Anna Smith
is a fabric artist, guest lecturer and key note speaker on Exotic Fabrics of the
World.
Anna resides in West Vancouver, BC where she
instructs fabric arts, quilting and photo
transfer classes at art galleries, quilting guilds and on cruise ships. Color
and fiber have influenced Anna since her
youth. As a frequent world traveler, it is her
mission to search out new textiles and innovative art techniques at all
destinations to build her “stash”
for her teaching and creative projects. Anna approaches her
art projects with energy and enthusiasm whether it be arc welding metal
designs, intricate embroidery or multi-year photo memory quilts. References are available upon request

Pacific, Africa and Europe, showcasing elaborate batiks, historic tapas,
colorful costumes and luxurious tapestries that inspire all travelers,
collectors, sewers, quilters and fabric junkies.
2. Latin American Fabrics – a Fiesta of Color
Join fabric artist Anna Smith for her second
Explorations Lecture on Exotic Fabrics of the World featuring the color and
diversity of Latin American textiles and fibers from Mexico, Central and
South America. Samples from Anna’s shopping endeavors abound in this
entertaining and informative talk.
3. All About Silk
Join Anna for her third Explorations Speaker
Series, “All About Silk.” Fabric Artist Anna Smith tells the story
of silk, its history, many uses and amazing features in a multimedia
presentation that entertain and inform you. Enjoy touching samples from the Silk
Road, SE Asia and Japan and learn about silk’s many modern uses.

to 2.5 hour session)
CAPTURE THE MEMORIES.
Fabric artist Anna Smith demonstrates how to produce photo transfers
to preserve your favourite photographs onto fabric and open doors to expand your
creativity for art quilts, wall hangings to everyday bags and treasured gift
items. This simple technique will give quilters, stitchers and fabric artists
new ways of using and sharing their memory photographs.
