North Shore Challenge - 2006 -
presented by The North Shore Photographic
Society
7:00 p.m. Saturday, March 11,
2006, Kay Meek Centre for the Performing Arts, 1700
Mathers Avenue, West Vancouver. Live adjudication of
digital images from over 25 photo clubs across
BC. Best image and best club awards. Door Prizes.

CAMERA CLUB
PROFILE
The Pacific
Digital Photography Club is
just 2 years old and has over 90 members. Their
mandate: "The sharing of knowledge through
technical demonstrations, members presentations,
and forums". This club is open to anyone serious
about digital photography.
The
club meets at 7:30pm on the second and fourth
Tuesday of the month, Sept to June at the Port
Moody Secondary School 300 Albert St. Port Moody

DIGITAL AND TRAVEL
PHOTOGRAPHY CLASSES... Starting
Soon
Our
sold out Introduction to Digital Photography class at
the Ferry Building Gallery in West
Vancouver will be followed by a 2-evening class
on Intermediate Digital
Photography at 7:00pm -9:30pm on
Thursday January 26th & February 2nd. $55.
To register 604-925-7270. This Intermediate Level class is
for all ages who have used a digital cameras and have
some knowledge of photography. Learn how to use
additional digital camera features and improve the
creation, display and management of your digital
images. A demonstration and review of software
tools (Windows Explorer, ProShow Gold, ACDSee, Photoshop
Elements and Photoshop CS, and others) for image
management and display will improve your workflow,
productivity.
The next Introduction
to Digital Photography - Level 1 class will be
Sunday daytime classes at the Surrey Art
Gallery (Bear Creek Park) on January 29.

This Introductory
Level course will teach the basics of
good photography, how to select and use your digital
camera, use memory, and manage your digital images on
your computer. Choices on how to email, display, edit
and print digital images will be reviewed. Learn how to
prepare simple digital slide shows. Bring your digital
camera, questions and camera manual.
Digital projection and
multimedia slides shows will educate, inspire and
entertain in all classes. To

LEARN TO JUDGE
COURSE
Shona LaFortune will be
organizing this course in February 2006 either on the
weekend of the 11/12th or 18/19th in
Langley. This course will give training on
how to evaluate images by lectures, participant
interaction and practice. There is a fee for
this two day course: $75.00 for Canadian
Association of Photographic Art (www.capacanada.com) individual/family members and $100.00 for
non-members. Contact: learntojudge@shaw.ca to let Shona know which dates would suit
you best.Note: Whether you wish to be a judge or
not, this course will help all photographers improve
their skills!

B&W Weekend Workshop
Back to Film! This 2
day weekend workshop gives you the chance to dig out
your film camera, learn, create and be inspired!
Day 1 (Sat) - Discuss Cameras, f stops,
film, composition, then go shooting with instructor
Wendy D complete with exercises to help you "see".
Day 2 - (Sun) Get into the darkroom develop your
film from day 1, make a contact sheet and learn the
basics of printing your own images. Requirements -
film camera with manual settings, (2 rolls of
B&W film ASA dependent on weather). Included - all
chemicals and paper for developing and printing.
Coffee/tea Sat -
Sunday lunch at La Cucina del Diavolo the ARC’s

excellent digital photography "How to Center" that
includes features and free downloads for Windows XP
and a series of articles, case studies and galleries for
both amateur and professional photographers, regardless
of operating system used. Check it out - you will
be amazed at how the Windows XP operating system has
been enhanced for the digital photography revolution.
