This is a multi-day Photography Tour in one of the most visually stunning and diverse natural environments in North America. This is an unique destination vacation for avid photographers worldwide. We invite you to discover awe-inspiring Kootenay Lake and its surrounding mountains located in the heart of beautiful British Columbia, Canada. Kootenay Paradise Photography Tour was designed and is guided by Doug Pyper, an internationally recognised professional photographer and widely published mountain lifestyle photojournalist. He will be your personal mentor throughout the tour. In three memorable days you will visit and photograph high-country alpine meadows and waterfalls, tour by boat miles up a large glacial fed lake beneath towering mountains, and step back in time visiting the remnants of a story book mining era, including a fully restored paddlewheeler and a ghost town that once bustled with over 5000 residents. During your stay you will enjoy the warm comforts and fine dining provided by Retallack Alpine Lodge, a classic timber frame structure located on a riverbank deep in the pristine and unpopulated Selkirk Mountains.

The tour runs weekly from mid-June to mid-September and is limited to 9 participants to insure personal attention to all your needs and desires, be they photographic or otherwise. FORMATTING YOUR MEMORY CARDS

These are frequent questions in my digital photo classes: "What's with card formatting? Do I really need to do it? I just popped my card into my camera and everything seems to work OK."

Formatting a card basically insures that it is going to work right with your camera. Just like computers, memory cards have files systems, folders, etc. When you use your camera to format a card, it sets the card up the way the camera needs it to be in order to function properly. Now, for the most part, if you just pop in the memory card it will usually work.

However, formatting a card is a very quick and painless procedure, so I recommend doing it every time you pop the card into your camera.  Consult your camera manual to learn how to format and always format using the camera you will be using and not with your computer. In addition to getting the card ready to use with the camera, formatting can also can fix minor problems. If your card and camera are not getting along too well—lots of error messages, bad writes, etc.—try formatting the card. Good digital workflow practice is to format the memory card as soon as you know you have copied the images to your computer.  Remember: formatting will delete your image files forever.

IMAGE RECOVERY

Can't see the images on your memory card?  This may result from turning off the camera before it has written all of the image to the memory card, the card has not been formatted for along time or it has been exposed to a magnetic field. Don't despair! Chances are good that you can recover your images using simple and inexpensive data recovery software.  Before your format the card try Photo Rescue - I have been using that product for several years now and it has never failed me.
